Steps to Get Your Real Estate License in Florida

  1. Meet Eligibility Requirements (See below)
  2. Complete the Pre-Licensing Course
  3. Pass the Course Final Exam
  4. Submit Your Application – including Fingerprint -to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR)
  5. Schedule and Pass the State Exam
  6. Choose a Sponsoring Broker
  7. Activate Your License

Sales Associate License

Basic Requirements

Age: Must be at least 18 years old

Social Security Number: Valid U.S. Social Security number required

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Pre-License Education

Complete a 63-hour Florida-approved sales associate pre-licensing course

Course is valid for 2 years from the completion date

Course completion not required at the time of application submission

You can apply for state exam approval before taking the course

Education Exemptions

Hold a 4-year degree or higher in real estate?
You may be exempt from the pre-license education

Real Estate Broker License

Basic Requirements

Age: Must be at least 18 years old

Social Security Number: Valid U.S. Social Security number required

Experience

Must meet one of the following:

a. Active sales associate for at least 24 months in the last 5 years under one or more brokers

b. Employed by a government agency as a licensed sales associate for at least 24 months in the last 5 years

c, Held a valid broker license in another U.S. state or foreign jurisdiction for at least 24 months in the last 5 years

Pre-License Education

Complete a 72-hour Florida-approved broker pre-licensing course

Course is valid for 2 years from the completion date

Education Exemptions

Hold a 4-year degree or higher in real estate?
You may be exempt from the pre-license education
